Johnson scores twice in Auggie loss

BLAINE, Minn. -- Megan Johnson (FY, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) claimed her second two-goal game of her inaugural college hockey season, scoring twice in her Augsburg College women's hockey team's 4-3 loss to host Bethel University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening at the Schwan SuperRink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Johnson gave the Auggies a 1-0 lead with a shorthanded goal at the 14:45 mark of the first period, assisted by Callen Naasz (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS). 
• Bethel scored three straight goals in the second period to take the lead, before Bridget Walter (FY, Princeton, Minn.) cut the advantage to 3-2 on a goal from Megan Robertson (SO, Boissevain, Manitoba) at the 17:41 mark.
• Johnson scored the final goal of the game for the Auggies, a marker from Danielle Heitkamp (JR, Bismarck, N.D./Grand Rapids (Minn.) HS) and Ashley Kloncz (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) at the 15:11 mark of the third period.
• Augsburg held a 24-17 advantage in shots on-goal in the game. Kayla Fuechtmann (SR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had six shots, while Darby Lindgren (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS), Johnson and Kloncz had three shots each.
Erika Allen (SR, Roseville, Minn.) had 13 saves in goal.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Johnson now has a team-high 11 points (seven goals, four assists), tied for fifth-most among MIAC players in overall statistics.
• Johnson has scored a goal or assist in seven of Augsburg's 14 games this season, including the last three straight games. Kloncz also has a three-game point streak.


FOR THE FOES
• Erika Geary, Wendy Roberts and Caroline Kivisto scored goals in a 6:53 span for Bethel, giving the Royals a 3-1 lead at the 13:29 mark of the second period.
• Abby Larson had the eventual game-winning goal, a marker from Sarina Goos at the 3:27 mark of the third period.
• Goos and Erin Harper had two assists each for the Royals.
• Maggie Straka had 21 saves in goal for Bethel.
