Blazers pull away from Auggies in 4th quarter

MINNEAPOLIS -- In a close, back-and-forth game, the College of Saint Benedict was able to pull away from Augsburg College in the fourth quarter, claiming a 63-56 victory in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was a tight one throughout, with neither team leading by more than nine points. There were 10 ties and 12 lead changes in the contest.
• Saint Benedict outscored Augsburg by an 11-2 margin in the final 4:12 of the fourth quarter to claim the seven-point victory.
• Alaina Quaranta (FY, Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire North HS) came off the bench to score 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, along with a game-high six steals, three assists and three rebounds. It marked her third double-digit scoring effort of the season.
• Jessica Lillquist (SR, Sebeka, Minn.) also scored 15 points for the Auggies on 6-of-10 shooting, contributing five rebounds and a blocked shot. It's her fifth double-digit scoring effort of the season.
• Maria Loughlin (SR, Rogers, Minn.) scored 10 points with a team-best five assists, five rebounds and a steal, while Allison McKee (SR, New Brighton, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored six points with five rebounds and two assists.
• Jenna Orth (SR, Melrose, Minn.) led the Auggies with six rebounds, while also contributing three assists, two steals and two points.

• Augsburg shot 38.7 percent (24-of-62) from the field, but was unable to connect on a three-pointer in 13 attempts. The Auggies also went 8-of-13 from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, the Blazers hit 48.0 percent (24-of-50) from the field, including 4-of-14 from three-point range and 11-of-19 from the free-throw line.
• Saint Benedict outrebounded Augsburg by a 38-34 margin.

FOR THE FOES
• Saint Benedict was paced by Annie Dittberner, who scored 15 points with three assists, a steal and two rebounds. Chelsey Guetter scored 10 points with seven rebounds.
• Off the bench, Macy Kelly scored nine points with nine rebounds. Alison Newton had nine points and nine assists.
• Nikki Fokken scored eight points with five rebounds, and Kate Banovetz came off the bench to score eight points with seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
