Augsburg shuts out league-leader Concordia 3-0

MINNEAPOLIS -- Erika Allen (SR, Roseville, Minn.) recorded her second straight shutout in goal, and Darby Lindgren (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) claimed her second career two-goal game, as their Augsburg College women's hockey team scored a 3-0 win over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-leader Concordia College-Moorhead on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Allen stopped all 27 shots she faced to claim her second shutout of the year, fifth as an Auggie and 11th of her career.
• Lindgren gave the Auggies a 2-0 lead with a backhanded, unassisted goal at the 5:10 mark of the third period, then capped the win with a goal from Claire Cripps (SR, Hutchinson, Minn.) at the 15:22 mark of the third period.
• Brenna Nakonechny (SR, Grand Forks, N.D./Red River HS) gave the Auggies a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at the 18:36 mark of the first period, assisted by Megan Johnson (FY, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) and Callen Naasz (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS).
• Concordia outshot Augsburg by a 27-25 margin. Cripps and Lindgren had four shots on-goal each, while Ashley Kloncz (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) had three shots.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With nine games remaining in the regular season, Augsburg has already matched its win total from each of the last two campaigns with its ninth victory. Augsburg finished 9-11-5 last season and 9-16-0 in 2013-14. Augsburg also matched its MIAC win total of seven games from last season (7-7-4). Augsburg's last double-digit win season was also its last season appearing in the MIAC postseason playoffs, 2004-05 (13-10-3 overall, 10-7-1 MIAC).
• Augsburg is in third place in the MIAC standings with 13 league points, now two points behind new league-leader St. Thomas' 15 points (7-1-1 MIAC) and second-place Concordia's 14 points (7-2-0 MIAC).
• Johnson extended her point-scoring streak to five straight games with her assist. She now has a team-high 14 points (eight goals, six assists), third-most among MIAC players in overall statistics. Her 14 points and eight goals are both tops among MIAC rookies.
• Lindgren, who has a point in four of her last five games, now has 11 points (six goals, five assists) on the season, tied for 10th-most among MIAC players.
• Naasz now has 12 points (three goals, nine assists), tied for seventh-most among MIAC players. Her nine assists are tied for the most among MIAC players.
• Nakonechny's nine points (three goals, six assists) are good for second-most among MIAC defenders.
• Friday's win marked Augsburg's first back-to-back shutout wins since the midway point of last year, when it topped Wisconsin-Eau Claire 2-0 on Dec. 13, 2014 and St. Norbert 1-0 on Jan. 9, 2015.

• Andrea Klug had 22 saves in goal for Concordia.
• Amber Schaack had seven shots on-goal for the Cobbers, while Jess Nelson had four shots.
