Auggies pull away to win over Cardinals

MINNEAPOLIS -- Collin Olmscheid (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field, leading Augsburg College to a 75-64 win over Saint Mary's University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Wednesday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Olmscheid's 8-of-12 effort was part of a strong shooting night for the Auggies, who connected on 53.7 percent (29-of-54) from the field in the game -- their eighth game shooting better than 50.0 percent this season. Saint Mary's shot 46.0 percent (23-of-50) from the field in the game.
• Leading 25-24 with 8:47 left in the first half, the Auggies went on a 10-2 run over the next 1:50 to take a 35-26 advantage, extending the lead to 47-35 at halftime. Augsburg led by as many as 21 points in the second half, with the advantage not dipping below eight points the rest of the way.
• Fifteen Auggies saw game action in the victory, with 11 different Auggies scoring.
• In addition to his 20 points, Olmscheid had five assists, two steals, two assists and a blocked shot.
• Brett Rasmussen (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) scored 14 points with four rebounds and an assist.
• Nick Varner (SO, Farmington, Minn.) came off the bench to score 10 points with three rebounds and a blocked shot, while Kevin McKiernan (FY, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) scored eight points with two rebounds, two assists and a steal.
• Harry Sonie (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS)  pulled down a game-high six rebounds while scoring four points with two assists, and Richie Perea (JR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Wasson HS) had four assists, a steal and four points.
• Brandon Little (SR, Broomfield, Colo.) pulled down five rebounds, while contributing three assists, a steal and four points.


FOR THE FOES
• Saint Mary's was led by Kevin Gleason, who scored 13 points with three rebounds and two assists.
• Wylie Ferron scored 12 points with six rebounds and two blocked shots, and Aaron Romportl scored 10 points with three rebounds, three assists and two steals. 
• Quashingm Smith-Pugh scored nine points, and Will Swiggum scored five points with eight rebounds.
