Auggie comeback falls short against Cobbers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Maria Loughlin (SR, Rogers, Minn.) scored 18 of her season-high 26 points in the second half, but the Augsburg College women's basketball team could not overcome a Concordia College-Moorhead advantage, as the Cobbers scored a 65-61 win in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Loughlin claimed her fifth 20-plus-point scoring performance in her last eight games with her season-best 26 points, hitting 11-of-19 from the field, including three 3-pointers. She also had four steals, three assists and two rebounds.
• Augsburg led 13-7 after one quarter, but a 23-13 Concordia second quarter gave the Cobbers an advantage they would never relinquish. The Auggies cut the lead to one point early in the third quarter and to two points in the final minute, but Concordia connected on 21-of-31 from the free-throw line, compared to just 8-of-13 for the Auggies. The Cobbers hit 12-of-18 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
• The Auggies were limited to 39.3 percent (24-of-61) shooting from the field, while Concordia hit 46.5 percent (20-of-43). Concordia also outrebounded Augsburg by a 43-28 margin.
• Jessica Lillquist (SR, Sebeka, Minn.) scored 11 points with six rebounds and two steals.

• Jenna Orth (SR, Melrose, Minn.) scored seven points with four rebounds, and Bridget Bednar (SO, Pierz, Minn.) scored six points with two assists and a rebound.

FOR THE FOES
• Jenna Januschka led the Cobbers with 23 points and 13 rebounds, going 6-of-7 from the field and 11-of-14 from the free-throw line.
• Olivia Johnson also a double-double for the Cobbers, scoring 12 points with 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
• Greta Walsh scored 17 points with five assists, two rebounds and a steal.
