Augsburg falls 3-1 at Saint Mary's

WINONA, Minn. -- Kayla Fuechtmann (SR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) scored the lone goal for Augsburg College in the third period, but her Auggie women's hcokey team dropped a 3-1 decision to Saint Mary's University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at Saint Mary's Arena.

• Fuechtmann scored an unassisted, power-play goal at the 13:45 mark of the third period, cutting the Saint Mary's lead to 2-1.
• Augsburg outshot Saint Mary's by a 33-22 margin in the game.
• Augsburg goalie Erika Allen (SR, Roseville, Minn.) had 19 saves.
• Fuechtmann had seven shots on-goal in the game for the Auggies, while Megan Johnson (FY, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) had five shots. Valerie Whichello (FY, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) and Ashley Kloncz (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) had four shots each.

• Macki Fadness and Jamie Henderson scored goals in the final 5:43 of the second period to put the Cardinals ahead 2-0. Henderson's goal was a shorthanded marker with 20 seconds left in the period.
