Augsburg blanks Hamline 5-0

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Kayla Fuechtmann (SR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) scored two goals and an assist, and Claire Cripps (SR, Hutchinson, Minn.) scored a goal with three assists, as the Augsburg College women's hockey team cruised to a 5-0 win over host Hamline University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday evening at Oscar Johnson Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg goalie Erika Allen (SR, Roseville, Minn.) stopped all 28 shots she faced to record her fourth shutout victory in her last six games.
• Fuechtmann and Cripps combined on the scoring on Augsburg's first three goals of the game, as Fuechtmann scored from Cripps at the 11:56 mark of the first period and 16:23 mark of the second period, and Cripps scored a power-play goal from Fuechtmann at the 7:58 mark of the third period.
• Augsburg scored three goals in a 3:22 span in the third period, starting with Cripps' power-play goal. Callen Naasz (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored an unassisted goal at the 8:39 mark, and Danielle Heitkamp (Jr, Bismarck, N.D./Grand Rapids (Minn.) HS) scored from Cripps at the 11:20 mark.
• Both teams had 28 shots on-goal in the game. Fuechtmann had eight shots for the Auggies, while Naasz had five shots and Cripps had four shots.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg's eight MIAC victories are its most since going 10-7-1 in MIAC play (13-10-3 overall) in the 2004-05 season, the last time the Auggies reached the five-team MIAC postseason playoffs.
• Allen's four shutouts are now tied for the third-most in a single season in a school history. Kristin Johnson holds the single-season school record with six shutouts in the 2002-03 season.
• Allen's nine wins this season (9-6-2) are also tied for the third-most in a single season in school history. Meg Schmidt holds the single-season school record with 17 wins (17-6-1) in 1999-2000.
• In 92 career games, Fuechtmann now has 35 goals and 22 assists for 57 points.
• In 95 career games, Cripps now has 20 goals and 35 assists for 55 points.
• Naasz now has 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points in 70 career games.


FOR THE FOES
• Jessica Cole had 20 saves in 49 minutes in goal for Hamline, with Molly Dionne recording three saves in 11 minutes.
• Chelsea Koehn and Jaci Reinke had four shots on-goal each for the Pipers.
