Auggies win 5th in a row, complete sweep of Royals

BLAINE, Minn. -- Nate Flynn (SO, Hastings, Minn.) scored two goals and added an assist for a three-point night, as the Augsburg College men's hockey team won its fifth straight game and eighth in its last nine contests, a 6-4 victory to complete a series sweep of Bethel University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday evening at the Schwan SuperRink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Eleven different Auggies figured in the scoring with goals or assists, as Augsburg claimed its sixth game of the season -- and fifth in a row -- scoring five goals or more.
• Augsburg scored three goals in the third period to break a 3-3, second-period tie, en route to the victory.
• Flynn opened the scoring with a goal from Mack Ohnsted (SR, Vernon Hills, Ill./Adali E. Stevenson HS) at the 6:48 mark of the first period. He scored his second goal of the game at the 11:54 mark of the third period, assisted by Ohnsted and Rory Vesel (JR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS). 
Eric Brenk (FY, Moorhead, Minn.) scored from Andy Faust (SO, Stillwater, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) at the1:36 mark of the second period, and Lukas Gillett (FY, Rosemount, Minn.) scored from Drew Anderson (SO, Rochester, Minn./Century HS) and Luke Dietsch (FY, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) at the 15:01 mark of the second period.
• Eli May (SO, Eagan, Minn.) gave the Auggies a 4-3 lead with a goal from Vesel and Flynn at the 7:17 mark of the third period, and Drew Allen (SR, Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley HS) capped the Auggie scoring with a shorthanded goal from Trevor Stewart (JR, Highlands Ranch, Colo./Eastmont HS) at the 14:33 mark.
• Augsburg claimed a 36-24 shots-on-goal advantage over Bethel, the Auggies' 11th game, and seventh in a row, with 30-plus shots.
Jordyn Kaufer (SO, Stillwater, Minn.) had 20 saves in goal for the Auggies in the win.

• Augsburg's five-game winning streak is tied for the seventh-longest active unbeaten streak among NCAA Division III teams nationally, and the longest current unbeaten streak among MIAC teams.

In the second period, Dylan Webster scored from Dallas Marvin and Travis Payne at the 4:44 mark, and Mitch Hughes scored from George Splichal and Jackson Purvis at the 17:23 mark. Payne scored from Webster and Margin at the 16:24 mark of the third period.
• Jesse Garcia had 30 saves in goal for Bethel.
