MINNEAPOLIS -- Despite playing with 10 men for most of the game, the Augsburg College men's soccer team took Gustavus Adolphus College to overtime, but a goal 1:31 into the extra session gave the Gusties a 2-1 win in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In a physical contest that produced 31 combined fouls (18 against Gustavus, 13 against Augsburg) and six yellow cards (three on each team), Augsburg was forced to play a man down after a second yellow/red ejection in the 30th minute.
• Despite playing shorthanded, the Auggies only surrendered a 35th minute goal to the Gusties, then evened the game at 1-1 in the 62nd minute, when Barinedum Kordah (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) scored on a header off a corner kick by Bobby Kohl (JR, Shorewood, Wis.).

• Kohl had seven shots in the game, while Kordah and Ben Henry (SR, Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln HS) had two shots each.

FOR THE FOES
• Luke Laurich scored for the Gusties in the 35th minute, heading a free kick from Cody Billins off an Augsburg defender and into the net.

QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG HEAD COACH GREG HOLKER
• "Too bad we had to play with 10 tonight ... but I don't think you would have noticed, because what we did with 10 showed an incredible amount of heart and spirit. We kept the ball well, created dangerous chances both in the run of play and on dead balls, and covered a lot of ground in the process."
• "Bobby Kohl was a real threat tonight, and we saw great mobility from Barinedum getting up and down from right back. Glad he finally got on the scoreboard with that goal because we have struggled with that particular moment recently. Bobby's service was right where it needed to be and 'B' smashed it home."
• "Overall, I couldn't be prouder of this group. We stayed true to who we are, even when we had to alter our plan. We worked relentlessly and supported each other, and I know that this group is good. Concordia is a difficult mid-week trip, no matter how you cut it. They are a much improved side, and I respect the hell out of Ben. I believe in our group. I love every moment I get to be around them, and I know they will be rewarded for their work."
