Smith leads Auggies in exhibition loss at Concordia-St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Chuckie Smith (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) posted a 19-point effort, leading the Augsburg College men's basketball team in a 92-81 exhibition loss to Division II Concordia University-St. Paul on Tuesday night at the Ganglehoff Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was an exhibition for Division III Augsburg against the Division II Golden Bears, and does not count in either standings or statistics for the Auggies. The game is considered a regular-season contest for Concordia-St. Paul.
• Smith led the Augsburg offense posting a team-best 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor, including a 5-for-11 performance from beyond the three-point arc.
Collin Olmscheid (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) posted another double-double, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
• Also finishing in double-figures for the Auggies were Kevin McKiernan (SO, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) and Richie Perea (SR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Wasson HS), who finished with 15 and 11 points respectively.

• For the game, Augsburg shot 44.1 percent (30-of-68), while Concordia converted on 57.4 percent (35-of-61) of its field-goal attempts. The Golden Bears claimed a 38-30 advantage on the boards, while the Auggies held a 8-13 advantage in the turnover battle.

FOR THE FOES
• The Golden Bears finished with all five starters in double-figures, led by Diallo Powell, who finished with 25 points, while adding 10 rebounds and three assists.
• Matt Ambriz and Bryndan Matthews both finished with 19 points apiece.
