Augsburg falls to Colorado College in OT

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Chuckie Smith (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) led the Augsburg College men's basketball team in an 88-82 overtime loss to Colorado College on Friday night at the Colorado College Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Kevin McKiernan (SO, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) hit a three-pointer with 45 seconds remaining to force overtime, but Augsburg was not able to keep up with Colorado College, which outscored Augsburg 14-8 in the overtime session.
• For the second straight game, Smith led the Augsburg offense, posting a team-high 26 points and four rebounds in 38 minutes of action.
Collin Olmscheid (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) continued his strong season for the Auggies, shooting 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from the field, putting up 17 points, while pulling down four rebounds.
• In a season-best offensive effort, Richie Perea (SR, Colorado Springs, Colo./Wasson HS) scored 14 points and had a team-high four assists.

• For the game, Augsburg shot a season-best 43.5 percent (27-of-62) from the field, while Colorado College converted on 48.4 percent (31-of-64) of its field-goal attempts. Augsburg claimed a 37-35 advantage on the boards.

FOR THE FOES
• The Tigers finished with four players in double figures, led by John Hatch, who scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the floor, while adding seven rebounds and five blocked shots.
• Chris Martin led Colorado College on the boards with a game-high 12 rebounds, while posting 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field.
