Augsburg scores season-high 91 but falls to St. Kate's in OT

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The Augsburg College women's basketball team scored a season-high 91 points, but St. Catherine University converted on a layup with one second remaining in overtime to score a 93-91 victory over the Auggies in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Butler Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After trailing 66-56 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Augsburg women's basketball team rallied back and used a Tamira McLemore (FY, Eagan, Minn.) three-pointer with eight seconds in regulation to tie the game at 82-82. St. Catherine had three-point attempt as time expired, but the Wildcats couldn't convert, forcing overtime. Augsburg scored the first four points of overtime, but the teams traded baskets the rest of the way out with St. Kate's converting a layup with one second to go to steal the win. 
• McLemore led the Auggie offense with a career-high 26 points, while adding seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Hannah Steinhaus (JR, Waterville, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristown HS) also scored a career-high for Augsburg, putting up 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor, while adding a team-high eight rebounds and assist and a steal.
• Also scoring in double figures for Augsburg was K'Aezha Wubben (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS), who scored 12 points while adding six rebounds.
• For the game, Augsburg connected on 39.7 percent (29-of-73) of its shot attempts, while St. Kate's hit 44.0 percent (33-of-75) from the floor.
• Augsburg claimed a 48-47 advantage on the boards.

FOR THE FOES
• The Wildcats were led by Alexis Garcia, who posted 21 points and seven rebounds, while adding two blocked shots.
• LaShay Holt posted the only double-double of the day, finishing with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while adding eight assists.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to action next Saturday (12/17) at 1 p.m., when the the Auggies host the Wisconsin-River Falls in the Auggies final nonconference contest of the season.
• St. Catherine returns to action on Wednesday (12/14), when the Wildcats travel to River Falls, Wis., to take on UW-River Falls at 7 p.m.
