Auggies claim third straight shutout, 3-0 over Oles

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Claiming its third straight shutout, the Augsburg College women's hockey team scored a 3-0 win over St. Olaf College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Making her second start and third appearance of the season in goal, Leah Patrick (SO, Hudson, Wis./Hill-Murray HS) stopped all 22 shots she faced to claim her first collegiate shutout and Augsburg's fifth shutout of the campaign.
• Darby Lindgren (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies with a power-play goal at the 19:46 mark of the first period, assisted by Valerie Whichello (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS).
• Emily Ach (FY, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Park Center HS) scored her first collegiate goal at the 3:03 mark of the third period, an unassisted tally.
• Callen Naasz (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) clinched the game for the Auggies with an empty-net goal with four seconds left in the game.
• Augsburg outshot St. Olaf by a 25-22 margin in the game. 
• Augsburg killed seven St. Olaf power plays in Saturday's game. The Auggies killed off all 11 Ole power plays on the weekend.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg, ranked No. 10 in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online Division III national poll, continued the second-best start to a season in program history with the victory. Augsburg's 8-2-0 start is second to the 9-0-1 start to the 1998-99 campaign as the program's best start after 10 games.
• Augsburg has now extended its opponent goalless streak to 208:27, covering four games and three shutout wins in a row.
• Augsburg has recorded three straight shutouts of varsity opponents on just two other occasions in program history -- a stretch last season (2-0 over Bethel on Jan. 16, 2016, and a sweep of Concordia-Moorhead, 3-0 and 3-0, on Jan. 22-23, 2016) and in the 2002-03 season (0-0 overtime tie against St. Catherine on Feb. 15, 2003, and a sweep of Saint Benedict, 6-0 and 3-0, on Feb. 22-23, 2003).  
• Augsburg has held its opponents to just nine goals in its 10 games this season -- a 0.90 team goals-against-average that is best among MIAC teams in overall statistics and fourth-best among NCAA Division III teams nationally.
• Augsburg has now killed off 26 straight opponent power plays over a stretch of the last six games. Augsburg has killed 45-of-47 opponent power-play opportunities this season, a .957 penalty-kill percentage that is tops among MIAC teams in overall statistics and fourth-best among NCAA Division III teams nationally.
