ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The Augsburg College women's basketball team fell to the College of Saint Benedict 73-59 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Claire Lynch Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Trailing 16-7 after the first quarter, the Auggies rallied and outscored the Blazers over the second and third frames to pull within five (50-45) and the end of the third. Unfortunately for the Auggies, Saint Benedict saved its best shooting for the final frame, connecting on 66.7 percent (8-of-12) as the Blazers pulled away for the 73-59 victory.
• For the second straight game, Augsburg was led offensively by
Aiza Wilson (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), who scored a team-high 17 points, while adding two rebounds.
• Also scoring in double figures for Augsburg was
Tamira McLemore (FY, Eagan, Minn.), who scored 10 points, while adding two steals.

Hannah Steinhaus (JR, Waterville, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristow HS) and
Bridget Bednar (JR, Pierz, Minn.) led the Auggies on the boards, pulling down six rebounds apiece.
• The keys of the game were points in the paint and turnovers. The Blazers posted a 40-22 advantage in points in the paint and a 20-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
• For the game, Augsburg connected on 36.7 percent (322-of-60) of its shot attempts, while the Blazers hit 45.6 percent (26-of-57) from the floor.
• Saint Ben's claimed a 37-35 advantage on the boards.
FOR THE FOES
• The Blazers were led by Chelsey Guetter, who posted a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor, while adding three assists and two steals.
• Also finishing in double figures for Saint Benedict was Niki Fokken and Alison Newton, who finished with 14 and 10 points respectively.
