Auggies cruise to win at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- With 13 players seeing game action and 11 scoring, the Augsburg College women's basketball team cruised to a 68-42 win over host Carleton College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at West Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg scored the first eight points of the game, eventually building a 19-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and 34-18 lead at halftime. Augsburg outscored Carleton by a 26-9 margin in the third period to build its biggest lead of the contest, 60-27 at the end of three quarters.
• Jenna Orth (SR, Melrose, Minn.) led the way for the Auggies, scoring 11 points with five rebounds and two assists.
• Jessica Lillquist (SR, Sebeka, Minn.) scored 10 points with three rebounds, and Marie Fitzgerald (SR, Fort Atkinson, Wis.) scored nine points with four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
• Hannah Steinhaus (SO, Waterville, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristown HS) and Allison McKee (SR, New Brighton, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored eight points each.
• Bridget Bednar (SO, Pierz, Minn.) and Megan Quam (FY, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) scored six points each.

• The Auggies connected on 43.1 percent (22-of-51) from the field in the game and hit 18-of-19 from the free-throw line.
• Augsburg outrebounded Carleton by a 38-26 margin in the game.


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With two games remaining in the regular season, Augsburg stands in seventh place in the MIAC standings, a game behind Saint Benedict, which has a 9-7 league mark. The teams will face each other in the final game of the regular season next Saturday (2/20) at Saint Benedict.

FOR THE FOES
• Carleton was led by Caroline Hull, who scored 12 points. Sarah Waldfogel scored 10 points with three rebounds.
• Michele Arima and Nnenna Ezem scored seven points each, and Cece Leone scored six points with seven rebounds.
