First-half run gives Augsburg league win over Beloit

MINNEAPOLIS -- An eight-goal scoring run in the final 12:18 of the first half gave Augsburg College a six-goal halftime advantage, as the Auggies scored a 19-10 win over Beloit College in the Auggies' first-ever Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference game on Sunday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Trailing 6-4, Augsburg scored 10 straight goals, eight in the final 12:18 of the first half and two in the first 2:02 of the second half, to build a 14-6 advantage. Four straight goals came on free-position shots.
• Helena Nguyen (SO, Maple Grove, Minn.) scored four goals to lead the Auggie attack, scoring three goals in the first half.
Sheala Osborne (FY, West St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) scored two goals and added four assists for a six-point afternoon.
Dezera Sieracki (JR, Wyoming, Minn./Centennial HS) scored two goals with an assist, while Rachel Frantz (
JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS), Becky Genzler (FY, Farmington, Minn.) and Ashley Pettipiece (SO, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored two goals each.
Shelby Brion (JR, Clearwater, Minn/Monticello HS) and Aliya Hinz (FY, Loretto, Minn./Delano HS) had a goal and assist each, and Izzy Snow (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), Delaney Everett (
SO, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park HS) and Lexi Halvorson (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) each scored a goal.
• Beloit outshot Augsburg by a 35-34 margin, while both teams had 25 ground balls. Augsburg had 18 draw controls to Beloit's 13.
• Augsburg went 24-of-31 in its clearing attempts, while Beloit went 23-of-27.
• Everett recorded seven draw controls, four caused turnovers and four ground balls, while Osborne had five draw controls and Halvorson had three. Christina Nelson (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) had five caused turnovers, two draw controls and three ground balls.
Marissa Guillou (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had 14 saves in goal, while also recording five ground balls.
