Auggies use 2nd half run to top Wildcats

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Facing a one-point deficit at halftime, the Augsburg College women's basketball team used a second-half run to score a 64-61 victory over St. Catherine University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon at the Butler Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In a game that featured nine ties and 10 lead changes, Augsburg used an 11-0 run spanning the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth quarter to take a lead it would not relinquish in the game. Augsburg held its biggest lead, 50-39, with 8:39 left in the fourth quarter. St. Catherine cut the lead to three points in the final minute, but could not cut it further.
• Maria Loughlin (SR, Rogers, Minn.) led the way for the Auggies with 17 points, adding four rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot and a steal.
• Hannah Steinhaus (SO, Waterville, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristown HS) scored 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, adding eight rebounds, two blocked shots and three steals. Her 12 points ties her Auggie career-high.
• Jessica Lillquist (SR, Sebeka, Minn.) scored 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, adding seven rebounds, a blocked shot, assist and steal.
• Allison McKee (SR, New Brighton, Minn./Mounds View HS) scored seven points with four rebounds, and Alaina Quaranta (FY, Eau Claire, Wis./North HS) and Jenna Orth (SR, Melrose, Minn.) added six points each.
• The Auggies connected on 42.9 percent (27-of-63) from the field in the game, while St. Catherine hit 34.3 percent (23-of-67).


BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the win, Augsburg remains in the hunt for a spot in the six-team MIAC postseason playoffs. With four MIAC games remaining in the regular season, Augsburg stands in seventh place, two games behind two teams tied for fifth place -- Bethel and Saint Benedict, which both have 9-5 league records.


FOR THE FOES
• Mari Lee scored 15 points with six rebounds to lead St. Catherine, while Audra Clark had 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
• LaShay Holt scored 12 points with 12 rebounds and four assists, and Shauna Horsch scored 10 points with four rebounds and three steals.
