MINNEAPOLIS --
Brandon Schmahl (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) drove in 11 runs on a 6-of-9 effort at the plate, as his Augsburg College baseball team split a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with Macalester College on Sunday afternoon at Parade Stadium.

DOUBLEHEADER HIGHLIGHTS
• Schmahl went 3-for-4 in the first game with a double, driving in four runs while scoring twice. In the second game, he drove in seven runs on 3-of-5 hitting at the plate, with two doubles and a grand-slam home run.
• Augsburg pounded out 29 hits in the doubleheader, including six doubles, four triples and three home runs. Macalester had 28 hits, with six doubles, a triple and five homers.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, but Macalester tied the game at 5-5 with a five-run third inning. The Auggies scored a run in the third and five runs in the fourth to take the lead for good, adding a run in the sixth frame.

Billy Brookshaw (SR, Prescott, Wis.) hit a run-scoring single and scored on an RBI grounder by
Josh Marlowe (JR, North St. Paul, Minn.) in the first inning. Schmahl drove in two runs on a single in the second inning, and came across after a fielder's choice and error.
• Augsburg scored a run on an RBI groundout by
Jordan DeCroock (SO, Farmington, Minn.) in the third, then scored five runs in the fourth.
Andy Julkowski (SR, Cedar, Minn./St. Francis HS) drove in a run on a double,
Eric Olheiser (JR, Maplewood, Minn./Tartan HS) plated a run on a sacrifice fly,
Mike Brookshaw (FY, Prescott, Wis.) and Schmahl hit a two-run double. Olheiser capped the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.

Lincoln Hochmuth (JR, Cannon Falls, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) struck out four while walking two in six innings of pitching for the Auggies, while
Steven Piette (SR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) struck out two of the three batters he faced in the seventh inning.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• The second game featured several rallies. Augsburg led 4-1 after two innings, but Macalester scored five runs in the third and six runs in the fourth to take a 12-4 lead. Augsburg scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 13-12 lead, but Macalester took the lead back with a three-run seventh inning. Both teams traded runs in the eighth inning to complete the scoring.
• Augsburg put four runs on the board in the second inning, as Brookshaw hit a run-scoring triple, then scored on an infield single by
Rhett Hebig (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS). Schmahl then doubled to drive in two runs.
• Hebig led off the fourth inning with a double, then scored on a double by Schmahl. Schmahl scored when Marlowe singled and advanced on an error, and Marlowe scored on a double by
Bryce Pruszinske (SR, Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS).
• Augsburg sent 10 batters to the plate and scored six runs, keyed by Schmahl's grand-slam homer. Two more runs came across when Olheiser reached base on a fielding error. Julkowski scored on a sacrifice fly by Hebig in the eighth inning.
• In addition to Schmahl's three-hit effort, Marloew and DeCroock also had three hits each. Hebig scored three runs.
FOR THE FOES
• Collin Brantner went 2-for-4 in the first game for Macalester, driving in two runs and adding a double. Sam Berk hit a home run and Quentin Stuart hit a triple.
• Graham Low hit two home runs and added a double, driving in eight runs while scoring two runs in the second game.
• Ben Castagnetti went 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in the second game.
• Nick McMullen and Stuart also hit home runs, with each recording three base hits in the second game.
