MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College softball team was swept by the College of Saint Benedict at home in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Thursday afternoon.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• The Auggies scored four runs on four hits and were in a tie game through five innings, but Saint Benedict scored one run in the sixth and three more in the seventh to pull away for the 8-4 win.

Brianna Cline (SO, St. Clair, Minn.) tallied two RBI on a double in the fourth inning to tie the game.
•
Sarah Buckner (SR, Duluth, Minn./East HS) and
Jenna Orth (SR, Melrose, Minn.) both hit a doubles. Buckner added an RBI as well.
•
Ashley Anfinson (SR, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) finished 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
•
Samantha Anderson (FY, Coon Rapids, Minn.) pitched a complete game for the Auggies in game one and allowed eight runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out eight.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• The Blazers really got their bats going in game two as they recorded 16 hits on their way to 12 runs.
• Augsburg tallied another four hits in game two, plating one run in the first inning.
• Buckner finished 2-for-3, while
Meghan Springborn (SO, Oakdale, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
•
Taylor Mattice tallied the only other Auggie hit and went 1-for-3.
• The Auggies were locked in a 1-1 tie until the fourth inning when the Blazers exploded for five runs on four hits and three Auggie errors.
• Saint Benedict added six more runs in the sixth inning on seven hits and one Augsburg miscue.
