MINNEAPOLIS -- A six-goal run by the Aurora University women's lacrosse team at the end of the first half and beginning of the second half gave the visitors an advantage they would not relinquish, as the Spartans scored a 19-12 win over host Augsburg College in a Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference game on Friday evening at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Trailing 6-3 after the first 19:38 of play, Augsburg was able to trim the Aurora advantage to 7-6 with 6:44 left in the first half. However, the Spartans scored twice before halftime, then scored the first four goals of the second half to take a 13-6 lead with 18:10 left to play. Augsburg could not cut the lead closer than five goals the rest of the way.

Helena Nguyen (SO, Maple Grove, Minn.) and
Delaney Everett (SO, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored four goals each to lead the Auggies, while Becky Genzler (FY, Farmington, Minn.) had a goal and two assists.

Ashley Pettipiece (SO, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) had a goal and an assist.
Sheala Osborne (FY, West St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and
Izzy Snow (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) scored goals, and
Shelby Brion (SR, Clearwater, Minn./Monticello HS) had two assists.
• Snow contributed sis draw controls, a caused turnover and ground ball, while Everett had six draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Nguyen had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Nicole Szczebak (JR, Goodyear, Ariz./Desert Edge HS) had three ground balls and three caused turnovers, and
Lexi Halvorson (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) had four caused turnovers and two ground balls.Â

Marissa Guillou (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had eight saves, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Augsburg was outshot by a 32-27 margin, while recording 19 draw controls to Aurora's 14. Aurora had 30 ground balls to Augsburg's 26, and converted 21-of-32 clearing attempts, compared to 12-of-20 for the Auggies.
FOR THE FOES
• Andrea Colford scored seven goals to lead the Spartans, while Chloe Madison had three goals and five assists. Lauren Whitfield scored three goals, and Kenny Hughes had two goals and two assists.
• Briana Lakebrink had four caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Colford had four caused turnovers, three draw controls and two ground balls, and Danielle Morgan scored two goals with five draw controls.
• Allee Samuel had eight saves in goal for Aurora.
