MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- With 11 different players figuring in the scoring, the Augsburg College women's lacrosse team clinched a berth in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference playoffs with a 17-3 win at Cornell College on Friday evening at Ash Park Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg scored the first seven goals of the game and led 8-1 at halftime. Cornell scored the first goal of the second half, but Augsburg then scored eight straight goals to take a commanding lead.
• In its first season in MWLC competition, the Auggies clinched a berth in the four-team MWLC playoffs, to be held at Concordia-Wisconsin next weekend.

Christina Nelson (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) scored two goals with three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers, and
Rachel Frantz (JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) scored two goals with an assist, ground ball, caused turnover and two draw controls.

Izzy Snow (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) scored a goal with two assists, a ground ball, caused turnover and two draw controls. Jesse Heusinkveld (SO, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS),

Shelby Brion (SR, Clearwater, Minn./Monticello HS) and
Lexi Halvorson (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) also scored goals, with
Dezera Sieracki (JR, Wyoming, Minn./Centennial HS) adding an assist. Heusinkveld added three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.

Marissa Guillou (SO, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had five saves and four ground balls.
• Augsburg outshot Cornell by a 30-13 margin, had 27 ground balls to Cornell's 20, and had 13 draw controls to Cornell's nine. Augsburg also converted 19-of-24 clearing attempts, compared to 13-of-21 for Cornell.
FOR THE FOES
• Raisa Ebner scored two goals with four ground balls, and Sydney Cooper scored a goal with four draw controls.
• Vaughn Zittle had five ground balls and two draw controls.
• Dana Kuenzi had eight saves in goal for Cornell.
