MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College softball team dropped two games to the visiting University of St. Thomas, who recently moved up three spots in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III poll to the No. 20 spot, in Minnesota

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS• The Auggies carried a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning, but two runs on three hits in the top of the sixth by the Tommies proved to be enough to earn the game one victory.
• Augsburg's two runs came in the fourth inning as MIAC Player of the Week
Brianna Cline (SO, St. Clair, Minn.) led things off with a double, and later scored on a
Sarah Buckner (SR, Duluth, Minn./East HS) single to right field. Buckner scored by capitlizing on a St. Thomas fielding error off the bat of
Haley Larson (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Prior Lake HS).
• The Tommies out hit the Auggies 7-4 for the game, and only struck out four times compared to 12 for Augsburg.
• Cline led the way for the Auggies, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run scored.
• Buckner recorded Augsburg's other hit, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored.
• Courtney Larsen threw 5.1 innings, holding the Tommies hitless until the fourth inning, and allowing just five hits and three runs (two earned) for the game. GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS• St. Thomas scored two runs in the first inning and six in the third to score the five-inning NCAA eight-run rule victory in game two.
• The Tommies did their damage with big hits, including two home-runs, a triple, a double, five singles, and seven RBI for the game.
• Samantha Anderson (FY, Coon Rapids, Minn.) started in the circle for the Auggies, pitching 3.0 innings, allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts, while Larsen threw two innings, allowing four runs on four hits with two walks.
• KatieJo Delisle pitched a gem for St. Thomas, allowing just one hit,
Haley Larson's two out single to right field in the second inning. Delisle retired 10 straight Auggie batters after Larson's hit to close out the game.
