Augsburg drops 2-0 decision at Cal Lutheran

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Two California Lutheran University goals in the second half gave the hosts a 2-0 victory over Augsburg College in the men's soccer season-opener for both teams on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg outshot Cal Lutheran by a 12-10 margin in the game. 
• Garrett Kaelin (FY, River Falls, Wis./Hill-Murray HS), making his collegiate debut in goal, collected five saves in the game for the Auggies.
• Two players also making their Auggie debuts had three shots each -- Ebesa Hamid (SO, Addis Ababa, Saudi Arabia/Addis International Academy) and Lionel Vang (FY, Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS).
• Ben Henry (SR, Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln HS) had two shots in the game for the Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Luis Perez gave Cal Lutheran a 1-0 lead with a goal to the lower right corner of the net in the 53rd minute.
• Fourteen minutes later, Daniel Aguilar scored on a shot to the top left corner. 
• Sergio Esquivel had four saves in goal for the Kingsmen.
