Auggies drop 24-14 decision at Concordia-Wisconsin

MEQUON, Wis. -- Isiah Malone (JR, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Park Center HS) and Raymond Guyton Jr. (SO, Stockton, Calif./St. Mary's HS) scored touchdowns for Augsburg College in the Auggies' 24-14 loss at Concordia University-Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Malone scored Augsburg's first touchdown of the season, a 39-yard interception return for the score with 3:14 left in the second quarter.
• Following a 37-yard kickoff return by Undre Smith-Brewer (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) to give the Auggies the ball at the Concordia 38-yard line, Guyton capped a seven-play drive with a one-yard touchdown run. 
• Concordia outgained Augsburg by a 384-215 margin in the game. Quarterback Guyton completed eight passes for 164 yards, but the Auggies were limited to just 51 yards rushing. Meanwhile, Concordia gained 238 passing yards and 146 rushing yards in the game.
• Defensively, Khoa Nguyen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) led the way for the Auggies with 14 tackles (eight solo), including a sack and three tackles for-loss.
• Lorenzo Hernandez (SO, New Ulm, Minn.) collected 10 tackles (three solo), and Barclay Bates (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had eight tackles (six solo) and a forced fumble.
• William Johnson (SR, St. Anthony Village, Minn.) had an interception, forced fumble and a tackle for-loss among his six tackles (five solo), and Deontae Heuer (JR, Stanley, Wis./Stanley-Boyd HS) also had six tackles (two solo).
• Nick Heenie (SO, Victoria, Minn./Waconia HS) caught four passes for 89 yards. Tiras Bolton (JR, Omaha, Neb./Omaha Westside HS) rushed 19 times for 36 yards and caught two passes for 45 yards.
• Punter Glenn Meyers (JR, Blaine, Minn.) had nine punts for 361 yards, a 40.1 yards-per-punt average.

FOR THE FOES
• Concordia scored the first 21 points of the game -- a 20-yard fumble return by Richie Guess, a four-yard rush by Logan Hass and a 27-yard pass from Aaron Nixon to Dominic Saragaglia. Kevin Kern kicked a 20-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
• Nixon completed 18-of-30 passing for 238 yards, with Ryan Wagner catching two passes for 58 yards and Adedeji Giwa catching three passes for 57 yards. Hass rushed 20 times for 86 yards.
• Concordia defenders combined for seven quarterback sacks in the game, with De'Shawn Pullen claiming two sacks. James Thomsen led Concordia with six tackles (one solo).
