Auggies post third straight MIAC sweep

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Augsburg College volleyball posted its third straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sweep with a win over Carleton College on Friday night at West Gymnasium. With the win, the Auggies move to 3-0 and stay atop the conference standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg used its best offensive outing of the season, hitting a season-best .245 (43 kills on 110 attempts), to top a strong Carleton team who was held to a season-low .099 for the match.
• Augsburg was led by the duo of DeeDee Maier (SR, Middleton, Wis.) and Taylor Linn (JR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS), who both posted double-digit kills and hit over .259 for the match. Maier finished with 10 kills and 11 digs for her second straight kill-dig double-double and fifth of the season. Linn hit an impressive .368 for the match, finishing with 10 kills, six digs and two block assists.
Courtney Lemke (SR, Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake HS) also posted a double-double for the Auggies, finishing with 26 assists and 13 digs.
• Anchoring the Auggie defense was Macey Terhell (SO, Osceola, Wis.), who recorded a team-best 17 digs.
• With the win, Augsburg was able to avenge a 5-set loss to the Knights from a year ago and has now claimed victories in three of the last four regular season matchups between the two teams.
• For the match, Augsburg posted 43 kills and 41 assists, compared to just 29 kills and 27 assists for the Knights. The Auggies also claimed a 59-46 advantage in digs for the match.

FOR THE FOES
• Lucy Stevens led the Knights with nine kills, while adding three block assists.
• Katie Tritschler posted a match-high 21 digs.

• Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday night when the Auggies host Gustavus Adolphus College in another important MIAC matchup.
• Carleton also returns to action on Wednsday night when the Knights travel to St. Paul, Minn. to take on St. Catherine University.
