ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Augsburg College outgained the University of Northwestern-St. Paul by a 290-226 margin, but could not punch the ball into the end zone, as the Eagles topped the Auggies 14-0 in a nonconference football game on Saturday evening at Reynolds Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg's defense was strong, forcing six Northwestern punts and holding the Eagles to just 75 rushing yards and 151 passing yards in the game. The Auggie special teams unit also played a role, as
Khoa Nguyen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) blocked a Northwestern field goal attempt on its first drive.
• Six Auggies had six-plus tackles in the game, led by
Matt Bowlin (SR, Chanhassen, Minn./Holy Angels HS) and
Lorenzo Hernandez (SO, New Ulm, Minn.), who had nine tackles (thee solo) each. Nguyen,
Derek Glynn (FY, Faribault, Minn.),
Barclay Bates (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) and
Steven O'Brien (SO, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) had six tackles each.
Clayton Byrd (JR, Circle Pines, Minn./Centennial HS) had a sack.
• Augsburg outgained Northwestern by a 290-226 margin and had 18 first downs to Northwestern's 13. But the Auggies were unable to score on four red-zone opportunities in the game. The Auggies were intercepted twice on consecutive drives to close the first half, and turned the ball over on downs on five straight drives in the second half.
• Running back
Tiras Bolton (JR, Omaha, Neb./Omaha Westside HS) led the way offensively for the Auggies, rushing for 110 yards on 18 carries.

Raymond Guyton Jr. (SO, Stockton, Calif./St. Mary's HS), making his first start at quarterback for the Auggies, completed 19-of-39 passes for 181 yards.
Nick Heenie (SO, Victoria, Minn./Waconia HS) caught three passes for 52 yards,
Cyrus Elliott (SR, Baldwin, Wis./Baldwin-Woodville HS) caught four passes for 34 yards and
James Newton (JR, Roseville, Minn.) caught three passes for 32 yards.
FOR THE FOES
• BJ Foster rushed 26 times for 58 yards, including a three-yard touchdown run with 7:28 left in the second quarter. The score capped a nine-play, 78-yard drive.
• Corban Halbur completed 11-of-23 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown, a seven-yard pass to Cody Carlson with 4:01 left to play. Carlson caught five passes for 53 yards, while Zach Duerwachter caught two passes for 71 yards.
• Ben Greener led the Eagles with 12 tackles (three solo), while Nick Swore and Ryan VanMannen had eight tackles each.
