Auggies remain in MIAC 1st-place tie with series split

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Bridget Wagner (FY, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS) and Megan Robertson (JR, Boissevain, Manitoba) had a goal and assist each, helping Augsburg College to a 5-3 win and a series split with Concordia College-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon, as the two teams remained tied for the lead in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In addition to Wagner's and Robertson's two-point nights, Valerie Whichello (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) and Megan Johnson (SO, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) added two assists each.
• Robertson opened the scoring with a power-play goal just 73 seconds into the contest, assisted by Johnson and Whichello. 
• Concordia tied the game with a power-play goal late in the first period, but the Auggies then erupted for four goals in a row, taking a 5-1 lead 8:17 into the third period.
• Darby Lindgren (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) scored a power-play goal from Wagner and Whichello at the 11:13 mark of the second period, and Jacie Hoehn (SO, Waseca, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) followed with a goal from Johnson and Ashley Kloncz (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) at the 15:26 mark.
• Wagner scored from Callen Naasz (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) just 14 seconds into the third period, and Emily Ach (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) capped the Auggie scoring with a goal from Mackenzie Molnar (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and Robertson at the 8:17 mark.
• Rebecca Sonnek (JR, Edina, Minn.) had 26 saves in goal to earn the win for Augsburg, improving to 9-4-0 on the season.
• Wagner had six shots on-goal to lead the Auggies, while Lindgren had four shots.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With eight games remaining in the regular season, Augsburg's 12 wins are already one away from tying last year's win total (13-10-3).
• Augsburg has outscored its opponents by a 40-24 mark, with the 24 goals allowed the fewest among MIAC teams in overall statistics. Augsburg's 1.41 goals allowed per-game is 11th-fewest among NCAA Division III teams nationally.
• Sonnek's 1.15 goals-against-average, .950 save percentage and .692 winning percentage are all tops among MIAC goalies in overall statistics. Her save percentage is seventh-best among NCAA Division III goalies nationally, while her GAA is 10th-best.
• Fifteen different Auggies have scored goals so far this season, and 20 different Auggies have recorded either a goal or assist.

FOR THE FOES
• Amanda Flemming scored two goals for Concordia, with Jess Nelson adding the other Cobber goal. Jessica Kongelf and Tori Davis had two assists each.
• Andrea Klug had 23 saves in goal for the Cobbers.

• Augsburg returns to action with an MIAC series against Saint Mary's next weekend. Next Friday's (1/27) game is at 7 p.m. in Winona, Minn., and next Saturday's (1/28) game is at 4 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
