WINONA, Minn. -- Behind a two-goal performance by
Darby Lindgren (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) and a 19-save effort by goalie
Rebecca Sonnek (JR, Edina, Minn.), the Augsburg College women's hockey team moved into sole possession of first place in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with a 5-1 win at Saint Mary's University on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In addition to Lindgren's two goals,
Jacie Hoehn (SO, Waseca, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS), Bridget Wagner (FY, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS) and
Callen Naasz (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) scored goals for the Auggies in the victory.
• Hoehn and Wagner scored goals in a 27-second span in the second period. Hoehn scored an even-strength goal from
Valerie Whichello (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) and
Nikki Nightengale (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) at the 6:50 mark, and Wagner scored a power-play goal from
Danielle Heitkamp (SR, Bismarck, N.D./Grand Rapids (Minn.) HS) and
Taral Clayton (JR, Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond HS) at the 7:17 mark.
• Both of Lindgren's goals were unassisted, coming at the 18:19 mark of the second period and at the 19:05 mark of the third period, an empty-net goal.
• Naasz scored her seventh goal of the season from Nightengale at the 12:30 mark of the second period.
• Sonnek stopped 19 of the 20 shots she faced in goal, improving to 10-4-0 on the season.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the win, combined with Concordia-Moorhead's 5-0 loss to Gustavus on Friday, Augsburg moved into sole possession of first place in the MIAC standings with 18 league points. Augsburg is currently in the No. 10 spot in the
USCHO Division III national rankings, while receiving a vote in the
D3hockey.com national poll.
• With seven games remaining in the regular season, Augsburg's 13 wins are already tied with last year's win total (13-10-3), and already tied for the third-most wins in a single varsity-games-only season in school history.
• Augsburg has outscored its opponents by a 45-25 margin this season, with the 25 goals allowed the fewest
among MIAC teams in overall statistics. Augsburg's 1.39 goals allowed per-game is 10th-fewest
among NCAA Division III teams nationally.
• Sonnek's .950 save percentage is tops among MIAC goalies in overall statistics, while her 1.14 goals-against-average and .714 winning percentage are both second-best. Her save percentage is ninth-best among NCAA Division III goalies nationally, while her GAA is 12th-best.
• Fifteen different Auggies have scored goals so far this season, and 20 different Auggies have recorded either a goal or assist.
FOR THE FOES
• Lindsay Paschke scored the lone goal of the game for Saint Mary's, a power-play goal from Taylor Pogreba at the 11:15 mark of the second period.
• Marah Shields had 15 saves in goal for the Cardinals.
