MINNEAPOLIS -- The Saint Mary's University women's hockey team claimed a 2-1 upset victory over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-leader Augsburg College on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Megan Johnson (SO, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) scored the lone goal of the game for Augsburg, scoring an unassisted goal at the 11:33 mark of the second period to tie the game at 1-1.
• Augsburg outshot Saint Mary's by a 33-14 margin, including a 16-5 advantage in the second period and 9-1 advantage in the third period.

Ashley Kloncz (SR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) and
Bridget Walter (SO, Princeton, Minn.) had four shots on-goal each for Augsburg.

Rebecca Sonnek (JR, Edina, Minn.) had 12 saves in goal for the Auggies.

• Augsburg, ranked No. 10 in the latest
USCHO Division III national rankings, is now in a tie for first place in the MIAC standings with Hamline, which swept Bethel in its series this weekend. The Pipers are the Auggies' next opponent in a series next weekend.
FOR THE FOES
• Ashley Corcoran stopped 32 of the 33 shots she faced in goal to pick up the win for Saint Mary's.
• Jamie Henderson opened the scoring for Saint Mary's with a goal from Kassie Lien at the 8:10 mark of the second period.
• Lien gave the Cardinals the lead with a goal at the 4:36 mark of the third period, assisted by Lindsay Paschke and Natalie Ryan.
