Augsburg falls to St Kate's in MIAC action

BOXSCORE ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg College women's basketball team dropped an evenly matched contest to St. Catherine University 69-65 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams made an identical 24 baskets and identical six three-pointers, but St. Catherine was able to hit 15-of-20 from the free-throw line, while Augsburg was only able to connect on 11-of-16.
• The Auggies claimed the advantage in shooting percentage, outshooting the Wildcats 47.1 percent (24-of-51) to just 39.3 percent (24-of-61), but St. Kate's claimed a 38-31 advantage on the boards, which they used to post a 17-4 advantage in second chance points.
• The Augsburg offense was led by Aiza Wilson (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), who scored 16 points, which included a 4-of-9 effort from beyond the arc. She added four assists and a pair of rebounds on the afternoon.
• Despite battling foul trouble, Camryn Speese (FY, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) finished with 13 points and six rebounds, shooting 4-of-7 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was, K'Aezha Wubben (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS), who finished with 10 points and four assists.
Arianna Jones (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) added a game-high six assists.

FOR THE FOES
• LaShay Holt continued her strong season for St. Kate's, scoring a game-high 26 points, while pulling down 18 rebounds, to go along with four assists and a steal.
• Audra Clark finished with 16 points and five rebounds for the Wildcats.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday (2/1) at 5:45 p.m., when the Auggies travel to Moorhead, Minn. to take on Concordia College.
• The Wildcats also return to action on Wednesday (2/1) when they host Macalester College.
