Weeding and Bednar lead Augsburg past Crown

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team was led by Jordan Weeding (SR, Greenfield, Minn./Rockford HS) and Bridget Bednar (SR, Pierz, Minn./Pierz HS) in a 3-0 victory over Crown College in nonconference action on Wednesday evening.

FINAL SCORE: Augsburg def. Crown 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-9)

RECORDS: Augsburg 16-8 overall, Crown 3-22 overall 

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg looked like a well-oiled machine, hitting an impressive .276 for the match, while for the second time this season holding the opposition to a negative hitting percentage (-.047). The Auggies are 15-1 this season when they hit better than .200.
• Pacing Augsburg was Weeding, who finished with a match-high 11 kills, while hitting at an impressive .435 clip. This marks the 12th time this season that Weeding has finished with double-digit kills. Weeding added three blocks (two solo), three service aces and two digs on an impressive night.
• Bednar posted a season-high 10 kills, hitting .333 in the match, to go along with three blocks (one solo) and three digs.  
• Anchoring the Augsburg defense was Macey Terhell (JR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) and Taylor Linn (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS), who finished with 15 and 14 digs respectively. Linn added an incredible five blocks (one solo), three aces and nine kills, hitting an .421 on the night.
Morgan Malley (JR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) handled the setting duties, dishing out 31 assists, while picking up nine digs, two kills and a pair of blocks.
• In the match, Augsburg claimed a 40-18 advantage in kills, a 60-47 advantage in digs and 10-1 advantage in team blocks.

FOR THE FOES
• Christine Anderson paced Crown, finishing with a team-best six kills. 
• Defensively, Michaela Svoboda and Kelsey Roschen picked up 16 and 10 digs respectively.
