Auggies cruise past Macalester 3-0

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team posted its second win of the week, claiming a 3-0 victory over Macalester College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday night at the Leonard Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg continued to play well, posting its second consecutive 3-0 victory. With the win, the Auggies move to 6-2 in MIAC play and are tied for second in the league standings with three conference matches to play. 
• Offensively, Augsburg finished with two players with double-digit kills. Taylor Linn (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) led all players with 13 kills, while adding four blocks (one solo), to go along with nine digs. Megan Quam (SO, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) recorded a career-high 10 kills, hitting .333, while adding three blocks and a pair of digs.
Morgan Malley (JR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) posted the only double-double or the night for Augsburg, finishing with 29 assists and 11 digs, while chipping in three kills and a pair of blocks.
• Continuing to defensively lead the Auggies, and the MIAC, was Macey Terhell (JR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS), who finished with 12 digs, while adding four assists. Terhell leads the MIAC in both total digs (486) and digs per-set (5.23).
• For the match, Augsburg hit .207, while holding Macalester to a .092 hitting percentage. The Auggies claimed a 42-30 advantage in kills, a 55-44 advantage in digs and 15-8 advantage in team blocks. The Auggies are 16-1 this season when they hit better than .200.

FOR THE FOES
• Outside hitters India Medaris and Clara Baumann paced Macalester, finishing with 11 kills apiece, while both added 10 digs.
• Deborah Pickford added nine digs for the Scots.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (10/21) at 3 p.m., hosting Carleton College at Si Melby Hall in the Auggies' final regular-season home match.
