MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University football team kept the game close throughout its contest at nationally-ranked Concordia College-Moorhead on Saturday, but two Cobber scores in the fourth quarter enabled the hosts to pull away in a 42-20 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Concordia gained the win on the ground, claiming 479 net rushing yards, en route to a 523-256 advantage in total offense over the Auggies. The Cobbers ran 72 plays, averaging 7.3 yards per play, and held the ball for 36:41, compared to 56 plays, a 4.6 yards per-play average and 23:19 time of possession for the Auggies.
• Augsburg stayed in the game throughout the first three quarters, taking leads of 7-0 and 10-7 before the Cobbers scored twice in the final 5:57 of the half to take a 21-10 advantage. The Auggies cut the lead to 28-20 late in the third quarter, but could get no closer, as all three of Augsburg's fourth-quarter drives fell short.

Tyler Hanson (JR, Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) connected on two field goals for the Auggies, a season-best 44-yarder in the first quarter and a 23-yarder in the third quarter. He now has six field goals in nine attempts this season and 41 points.
• The Auggies opened the scoring on a five-play, 53-yard drive, capped by a four-yard touchdown pass from
Quinn Frisell (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) to
Ray Guyton Jr. (JR, Stockton, Calif./St. Mary's HS). Frisell completed 14-of-31 passes for 121 yards in the game, while Guyton caught three passes for 23 yards.

Nick Heenie (JR, Victoria, Minn./Waconia HS) caught seven passes for 114 yards -- his sixth 100-yard-plus receiving game of the season. He now has 825 receiving yards on 47 catches this year.

Tiras Bolton (SR, Omaha, Neb./Omaha Westside HS) rushed 13 times for 67 yards, including a five-yard touchdown run that capped a 10-play, 76-yard drive late in the third quarter.
• Cornerback
Jabri Guy (SR, Moline, Ill./Eagan (Minn.) HS) led the Augsburg defense with 15 tackles (six solo), while
Chris Barr (SR, Centerville, Ohio/Centerville HS) and
Mustafa Adam (SO, River Falls, Wis.) had 14 tackles apiece.

Matt Bowlin (SR, Chaska, Minn./Holy Angels HS) had 11 tackles for the Auggies, and
Deontae Heuer (SR, Stanley, Wis./Stanley-Boyd HS) had an interception in the first quarter that stalled a Concordia drive at the Augsburg 17-yard line.

Glenn Meyers (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS), who leads the
MIAC's overall statistics in punting average (40.8 yards per-punt), averaged 43.0 yards on four punts in the game.
FOR THE FOES
• Chad Johnson rushed 27 times for 153 yards and two touchdowns in the second quarter, a one-yarder and a four-yarder, that gave Concordia a 21-10 halftime advantage. Quarterback Blake Kragnes also rushed for a 67-yard touchdown in the first quarter for the Cobbers, en route to a 116-yard rushing day on eight carries. He only threw the ball nine times in the game, completing seven for 44 yards.
• Dane Ringquist, Jason Montonye and Brandon Wayne all scored second half rushing touchdowns for the Cobbers. Montonye rushed nine times for 84 yards and Ringquist rushed 10 times for 64 yards.
• Alex Berg and Kirby Siewert had six tackles each, while Dallas Raftevold, Cody Fox and Andrew Thompson had five tackles each.
• Concordia is ranked No. 21 in the latest D3football.com Division III national poll and No. 19 in the American Football Coaches Association Division III national poll.
