MINNEAPOLIS --
Tiras Bolton (SR, Omaha, Neb./Omaha Westside HS) rushed for three touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass, rushing 174 yards to lead the Augsburg University football team to a 35-28 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Hamline University on Saturday, in the battle for "The Hammer" traveling trophy between the two teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bolton rushed for a career-high 174 yards on a career-high 24 carries to lead the Auggies to the win. He scored three rushing touchdowns -- a 13-yarder in the first quarter, nine-yarder in the third quarter and a 32-yarder with 5:58 left in the game, giving the Auggies a 35-28 lead. He also caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterbackÂ
Quinn Frisell (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) in the first quarter.
• Frisell completed 19-of-28 passing for 233 yards with two touchdowns against two interceptions. He also completed an eight-yard touchdown pass to Nick Heenie (JR, Victoria, Minn./Waconia HS) in the second quarter.
• Augsburg took a 20-7 lead at halftime, but the Pipers rallied to tie the contest at 28-28 with 9:06 left in the game. The Auggies then moved the ball 58 yards in eight plays to take the lead, capped on Bolton's 32-yard touchdown run down the left sideline with 5:58 left.
• Augsburg's defense also came up big, stopping Hamline drives three times inside the Auggie 18-yard line. Hamline's first drive was stalled on the Auggie 1-yard line, as a fumbled exchange stopped the play. The Auggies then converted their longest drive of the season -- a 12-play, 99-yard, 5:34 drive -- that was capped by Bolton's 13-yard touchdown run.
• Augsburg defenders intercepted two Hamline passes in the end zone -- one by
Jacob Bom (JR, Shorewood, Minn./Minnetonka HS in the third quarter and the other by
Isiah Malone (SR, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Park Center HS), which stopped the Pipers' final drive of the game with one minute left in the contest.
• Hamline outgained Augsburg by a 494-430 margin in the game, including a 343-233 passing advantage. Augsburg outrushed the Pipers by a 197-151 margin.

Ray Guyton Jr. (SR, Stockton, Calif./St. Mary's HS) caught five passes for 83 yards, while Heenie caught six passes for 55 yards.

Matt Bowlin (SR, Chaska, Minn./Holy Angels HS) and
Derek Glynn (SO, Lonsdale, Minn./Faribault HS) had 10 tackles each, with Glynn adding a quarterback sack.
Mustafa Adam (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) and
Barclay Bates (JR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had nine tackles each, with Bates adding a sack.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The game was the 13th in the series for "The Hammer," the traveling trophy between Augsburg and Hamline. Augsburg now leads Hamline 10-3 in games for the trophy, and the teams have split each of the last five games in the series.
FOR THE FOES
• Justice Spriggs completed 27-of-39 passes for 343 yards for Hamline, including completing 11 passes for 209 yards to Josiah Harris. The two connected for a 35-yard touchdown pass with 9:06 left to play, which tied the game at 28-28. Spriggs also rushed for two touchdowns -- a one-yarder in the second quarter and a six-yarder in the fourth quarter.
• Brendan Nachtrieb rushed 18 times for 118 yards and a three-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
• Mitchell Maday had nine tackles, including three quarterback sacks, for the Pipers, while Noah Jacobson had a game-high 12 tackles (six solo), including two for loss and a fumble recovery. Dalton Pakkala and George Haynes had interceptions for Hamline.
