Flynn scores twice, including OT winner for Auggies

BLAINE, Minn. -- Nate Flynn (SR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) tied the game for Augsburg University 16 seconds into the third period, then scored the game-winning goal at the 4:47 mark of overtime, as his Auggies claimed a 3-2 win over Gustavus Adolphus College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Showcase game on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Trailing 2-1 after two periods, Flynn tied the game with a goal just 16 seconds into the final frame, assisted by Drew Anderson (SR, Rochester, Minn./Century HS). 
• Flynn scored his second goal of the game with 13 seconds left in overtime, assisted by Anderson and Eli May (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), for his ninth career game-winning goal.
Alex Rodriguez (JR, Miami, Fla./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS), a transfer from Division I Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, scored his first goal as an Auggie at the 6:58 mark of the first period, assisted by another Division I transfer, Chandler Madry (JR, Bakersfield, Calif./Fairbanks (Alaska) BEST HS), who joined the Auggies from Minnesota State-Mankato.
Nick Schmit (JR, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) had 17 saves in goal for the Auggies.
• Rodriguez had six shots on-goal in the game, while Jake Larson (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS), a transfer from St. Norbert, had four shots.

FOR THE FOES
• Colton Schmidt scored for Gustavus at the 11:25 mark of the second period, assisted by Logan Haskins and Jared Bromberg. Will LeNeave gave the Gusties the lead with a power-play goal at the 17:07 mark of the second period, assisted by Caleb Anderson and Jake McCann.
• Chris Amsden had 33 saves in goal for the Gusties.
