SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The Augsburg women's basketball team fell 66-55 to two-time defending Upper Midwest Athletic Conference champion UW-Superior in nonconference action on Wednesday night at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg was only able to shoot 35.5 percent (22-of-62) from the field and fell to a tough UW-Superior squad that claimed the UMAC title a year ago.
• Offensively, Augsburg was led by K'Aezha Wubben (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS), who finished with 14 points, shooting 6-for-9 from the field, while adding three rebounds.
• Tamira McLemore (SO, Eagan, Minn.) also finished in double figures for Augsburg, putting up 11 points, while adding six rebounds and a pair of assists.
• Arianna Jones (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) had a solid opening campaign for the Auggies, picking up a career best six steals, to go along with seven points, six rebounds and four assists.
• The Augsburg defense forced 23 Yellowjacket turnovers, but unfortunately committed 20 turnovers of its own and was outscored 21-11 in points off turnovers.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 35.5 percent (22-of-62) from the field, while UW-Superior converted on 41.7 percent (25-of-60) of its shot attempts. The Yellowjackets posted a 52-33 advantage on the boards and claimed a 21-10 advantage in second chance points.
 
FOR THE FOES
• UW-Superior was led offensively by Justine Larson, who scored a game-high 22 points, shooting 9-of-11 from the field.
• Hailey Kontny and Hannah Norline both posted double-doubles for the Yellowjackets; Kontny finishing with 15 points and 12 boards, while Norline recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds.
