MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to post a 70-63 victory over the College of St. Scholastica in nonconference action on Tuesday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg used one of its most balanced scoring efforts of the season to claim the win, with four players finishing in double figures, and 10 factoring into the scoring.
• After a tightly contested first half, Augsburg used a 16-2 run over the final 3:43 of the third quarter and the first 1:40 of the fourth quarter to build a 56-37 advantage. The Auggies were able to extend their lead to as many as 21 before St. Scholastica put together a fierce comeback. The Saints cut the Auggie lead to five on two occasions in the final two minutes, but a 4-for-4 free-throw performance by Augsburg in the final 43 seconds sealed the win for the Auggies.

Tamira McLemore (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) led the Augsburg offense with 13 points, while adding season-bests with five steals and seven rebounds.
• After missing the first two games of the season,
Camryn Speese (SO, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) finished with 12 points, scoring eight of her 10 points at the free-throw line, while pulling down five rebounds.
• Aiza Wilson (SO, Minneapolis, Minn/DeLaSalle HS) and
K'Aezha Wubben (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) added 11 points apiece for the Auggies.
• Newcomer Jazmyn Solseth (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) tied for a team-best with seven rebounds, while adding five points in 20 minutes of action.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 37.7 percent (20-of-53) from the field, while St. Scholastica converted on 35.8 percent (24-of-67) of its shot attempts. The teams finished with an identical 42 rebounds but the big difference in the game came down to the free throw line. Augsburg was able to convert on 27-of-37 from the charity stripe, while the Saints finished 10-of-16.Â

FOR THE FOES
• St. Scholastica was led by the duo of Holly VanKempen and Rashonna Thomas, who finished with 14 points apiece.
• Michala Walther posted the lone double-double of the game, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
