Coplin leads Auggies past Carroll 74-69

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Booker Coplin (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) recorded Auggie career-highs in both points and rebounds, to lead the Augsburg University men's basketball team to a 74-69 nonconference victory over Carroll University on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The contest featured nine tied scores and three lead changes, while neither team was able to extend their lead to more than nine. Despite the tightly contested game, Augsburg held the lead for 26:27, while the Pioneers only led for 5:06 of the action. 
• A transfer from Wisconsin-River Falls, Coplin led Augsburg with the best performance of his Auggie career, posting a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double. Coplin finished 9-of-17 from the floor and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds. He also added a team-best two steals to go along with three assists.
• Also scoring in double figures for Augsburg was Kevin McKiernan (JR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS), who finished with 10 points, while adding a team-best four assists, to go along with five rebounds. 
• For the game, Augsburg shot 44.2 percent from the field (23-of-52), while Carroll connected on 42.9 percent (24-of-56) of its shot attempts. 
• The Auggies claimed a 41-35 advantage on the boards, and tied a season-best with 22 made free throws.

FOR THE FOES
• Carroll finished with three players in double figures, led by Troy Howat and Ray Pierce, who finished with 16 and 15 points respectively.
• Joel Heesch, paced the Pioneers on the boards, pulling down a team-best seven rebounds to go along with three points and two assists.
