Chany Pal (SR, Fridley, Minn./Fridley HS) scored six points and pulled down two big rebounds in the final minute and a half, as the Augsburg University men's basketball team posted a thrilling 68-64 victory over No. 13-ranked Wartburg College in the D3hoops.com Classic on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg's
Collin Olmscheid (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) connected on a three-pointer with 53 seconds left in the action to tie the game at 63-63.
Booker Coplin (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) then forced a Wartburg turnover on the next possession. The Auggies called a timeout with 32 seconds to play, but missed a lay-up with 13 ticks left on the clock. Pal came up with a big offensive board and put-back to give the Auggies a 66-64 advantage. Wartburg called a timeout with 10 seconds to play and got off a three-pointer, but Augsburg's Pal came up with the big defensive rebounds and was fouled, connecting on both free throws to seal the big win for the Auggies.
• Pal led Augsburg with a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double. It was the first double-double of his Auggie career.
• Olmscheid led the Augsburg offense with 18 points, shooting 6-for-12 from the field, while puling down eight rebounds and adding three assists.

Harry Sonie (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) added 15 points, connecting on 6-of-10 from the field, while picking up a game-high four steals. Sonie was named to the nine-member All-Tournament Team from the event.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 40.3 percent from the field (25-of-62), while Wartburg connected on 40.7 percent (22-of-54) of its shot attempts.
• The Auggies claimed a 42-33 advantage on the boards and outscored the Knights 32-26 in points in the paint.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg held the lead for 30:15, leading by as many as nine points in the game.
• The Auggies are now 8-2 overall -- their best start to a season after 10 games since the 2012-13 campaign, when they started 9-1, en route to a 21-7 finish.
FOR THE FOES
• Wartburg was led offensively by the duo of Sawyer Herman and Jaran Sabus, who scored 23 points apiece.
• Sabus added a team-best seven rebounds and four assists for the Knights.
• The Knights are ranked No. 13 in the latest D3hoops.com Division III national poll.
