MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College and University of St. Thomas men's hockey teams will enter the final weekend of the regular season in a tie for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey lead, after the Tommies gained the bonus point with a 1-0 shootout win after a 6-6, overtime tie with the Auggies on Saturday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was a wild, back-and-forth affair in the first two periods, as the teams combined for 11 goals on 40 shots on-goal, with Augsburg leading 6-5. St. Thomas tied the game with a goal 2:01 into the third period, and the teams remained scoreless through the final period and overtime, with the game officially a 6-6 tie. St. Thomas won the shootout 1-0 in three rounds to claim the bonus point in the MIAC standings.
• With both starting goalies pulled after allowing six goals each, the two relief goalies --
Nick Schmit (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) for Augsburg and Andrew Rohkohl for St. Thomas -- combined to stop all 20 shots they faced in regulation and overtime, nine saves for Rohkohl and 11 saves for Schmit.

Eric Brenk (SO, Moorhead, Minn.) scored two goals for Augsburg -- a power-play goal in the second period and the Auggies' final goal, an even-strength marker late in the frame.

• Augsburg outshot St. Thomas by a 34-26 margin in the game. Flynn had seven shots on-goal for the Auggies, while Brenk had six shots.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Entering the final weekend of the regular season, Augsburg and St. Thomas are tied for first place in the MIAC standings, each with 30 points, a point ahead of Saint Mary's (9-6-1 MIAC, 13-9-3 overall), which has finished its regular season with 29 points. Hamline is fourth with 26 points (7-4-3 MIAC, 10-8-5 overall). The Auggies, defending MIAC regular-season and tournament champions, take on Saint John's (20 points) in their regular-season final series next weekend, while St. Thomas faces St. Olaf (18 points).
• Augsburg, St. Thomas and Saint Mary's have all clinched berths in the five-team MIAC postseason playoffs. Four teams remain in the hunt for the final two spots entering next weekend's play.
• Flynn now has 14 goals on the season, third-most
among MIAC players in overall statistics. Brenk is now fifth among MIAC players with his 12 goals. In total points, Flynn's 23 points are tied for sixth-most among MIAC players, and he now has 11 points (eight goals, three assists) in his last eight games.
• Augsburg has outscored its opponents by an 91-60 margin, with its 91 goals the most among MIAC teams in overall statistics, and the 60 goals allowed second-fewest among MIAC teams, a goal behind St. Thomas' 59 allowed.
• Augsburg has now played in six shootouts this season, with a 2-4 record in them. The Auggies won their first two, but have lost four shootouts in their last five games.
FOR THE FOES
• Charlie Donlin scored the lone goal of the shootout for St. Thomas, delivering the Tommies the bonus conference point.
• Johnny Panvica, Tanner Barnes, Thomas Williams and Brett Gravelle had a goal and assist each, with Williams and Gravelle scoring to rally the Tommies from a 6-4 deficit to tie the game.
• Johnny Roisum and Joakim Broberg had the other goals for the Tommies.
• Benjamin Meyers had 19 saves in goal to start for the Tommies, before Rohkohl relieved him late in the second period.
