TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Augsburg College softball team improved to 7-3 overall with a pair of wins on Monday at the Tucson Invitational Games, topping MacMurray (Ill.) 13-2 in six innings and Stevens Tech (N.J.) 6-1.

MACMURRAY GAME HIGHLIGHTS
• Leading 6-1 after five innings, the Auggies used a seven-run sixth inning to end the game early via the NCAA eight-run rule. Augsburg sent 11 batters to the plate, taking advantage of two bases-loaded walks, a two-run double by
Taylor Mattice (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Centennial HS), a two-run single byÂ
Amanda Niznik (SR, Columbia Heights, Minn.) and a run-scoring double by
Lauren Hurley (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS).
• Augsburg plated three runs in the third inning, taking advantage of two errors and a two-run triple by
Carly Dropik (SO, Alexandria, Minn.).
• Three more runs came across in the fifth inning, as the Auggies again took advantage of two MacMurray errors along with an RBI sacrifice bunt by
Shannon Dale (FY, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS).
• Dropik went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and two RBI, while Niznik and
Jacquline Nichols (SO, Royalton, Minn.) each went 2-for-4, Niznik driving in two runs and Nichols scoring twice.
Brianna Cline (JR, St. Clair, Minn.) and
Anesia King (FY, Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) scored two runs each.

Samantha Anderson (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn.) struck out seven while not walking a batter and allowing seven hits in a complete-game victory.
STEVENS TECH GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Augsburg scored runs in five of the seven innings, spreading out the scoring in the win over a Stevens Tech squad that had topped the Auggies 26-5 on Sunday.
• A sacrifice bunt by King drove in Dropik in the first inning, while an RBI single by
Katie Parker (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) plated Cline in the third.
• In the fifth, Niznik hit an RBI single to drive in Parker, and back-to-back sacrifice bunts by Cline and King plated Dropik in the sixth.
• Two runs came across in the seventh, as Dropik hit an RBI single to drive in Niznik, and a bases-loaded walk plated another run.

Courtney Larsen (JR, Little Canada, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) pitched a complete-game victory for the Auggies, allowing nine hits and stranding eight Stevens Tech runners on base.
• Parker and Niznik each went 2-for-4, King had three RBI, and Dropik scored two runs.
