MINNEAPOLIS -- Despite giving up just 11 hits in the doubleheader, the Augsburg College baseball team dropped a pair of games to Mayville State University on Thursday morning at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Comets rallied for a 5-4 win over the Auggies in the opener, then claimed a 1-0 win in the second game.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg built a 3-0 second-inning lead in the opener, but Mayville State scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead. The Auggies tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth, as
Walker Rogers (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) hit a two-out double to the right-center gap to drive home
Zach Bakko (JR, Northfield, Minn.), but the Comets took the lead back in the bottom of the inning, on a solo homer to right field from Andrew Hill.

Eric Olheiser (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Tartan HS) led off the second inning with a solo homer to put the Auggies on the scoreboard, and with two outs, a run-scoring triple to left center by
Jordan DeCroock (JR, Farmington, Minn.) and an RBI single by Tyler "Jonesy" Buescher (SR, Prior Lake, Minn.) gave Augsburg a 3-0 lead.
• The Comets used a four-run fifth inning to take the lead, on an RBI double by Nolan Handley, a two-run double by Jose Guzman and a sacrifice fly by Brady Nygaard.

Josh Marlowe (SR, North St. Paul, Minn.) went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Auggies in the first game.

Jamie Kaye (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) struck out three while walking two in five innings on the mound for the Auggies, with
Dayton Danielson (FY, St. Charles, Minn.) taking the loss in an inning of relief.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• One hit proved to be the difference in the second game, a solo homer to left by Mayville State's Dondrei Hubbard, in the 1-0 win for the Comets.
• Despite surrendering the homer, Augsburg pitcher
Jacob Kari (JR, North Branch, Minn.) pitched a solid complete game, allowing just five Mayville hits, striking out two while walking three in a 94-pitch (59-strike) effort.
• Augsburg managed just three hits off of two Mayville State pitchers in the second game -- a single by Marlowe in the first inning, a double by DeCroock in the sixth and a single by
Mike Snow (FY, Corrales, N.M./Sandia Prep HS) in the seventh. Each were among five Auggie runners stranded on the bases in the game. DeCroock's double led off the sixth, but three infield outs stranded him on third base. Olheiser was hit by a pitch with one out in the bottom of the seventh, and Snow advanced him to second on a two-out single, but a flyout to center ended the game.
FOR THE FOES
• Mayville State used three pitchers in the first game, with Zachary Mahoney gaining the win with 5.0 innings of relief, striking out nine while allowing just three hits and a walk.
• Conner DiNaro picked up the pitching win for the Comets in the second game, striking out two while walking one and allowing one hits in 5.0 innings of work. Jacob Torgerson collected the save with two innings of scoreless relief.
• Hubbard went 2-for-3 for the Comets in the the second game, with Drake Yoshioka also hitting a double.
