MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College baseball team improved to 12-8 overall with a doubleheader sweep of Bethany Lutheran College in nonconference action on Thursday evening at U.S. Bank Stadium, winning 4-0 and 8-5.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Pitcher Jamie Kaye (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) threw an efficient six-hit, complete-game shutout, improving to 3-0 on the season with his third complete-game effort. While only recording one strikeout, he did not walk a batter. Of his 73 pitches in the game, 54 were strikes.
• Augsburg scored single runs in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to claim the win. Josh Marlowe (SR, North St. Paul, Minn.) plated Rhett Hebig (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) on a single in the first and Zach Bakko (JR, Northfield, Minn.) scored on a Clayton Bodine (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) fielder's choice in the fourth. Tyler "Jonesy" Buescher SR, Prior Lake, Minn.) scored on a wild pitch in the fifth, and a Walker Rogers (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) double drove in Bodine in the sixth.
• Hebig and Marlowe had two of Augsburg's seven hits in the game, with Bakko and Rogers hitting doubles.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg sent nine batters to the plate and took advantage of three Bethany Lutheran errors in the bottom of the first inning, scoring five runs. Marlowe, Eric Olheiser (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Tartan HS), Rogers and Mike Snow (FY, Corrales, N.M./Sandia Prep HS) hit RBI singles in the inning.
• The Auggies got another run in the second, when Buescher doubled and scored on a Marlowe single. 
• Augsburg added two runs in the sixth, both with two outs, as Jordan DeCroock (JR, Farmigton, Minn.) doubled and scored on a Buescher single, and Joe Rydel (SO, Forest Lake, Minn.) doubled to bring home Buescher.
• Bethany Lutheran sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the seventh inning, scoring four runs, but left the bases loaded as reliever Bodine, who moved from second base to the pitching mound, struck out the final batter of the game.
• Buescher, Rydel and Marlowe had two hits each for the Auggies, with Rydel contributing two doubles.

FOR THE FOES
• Jordan Grams had two hits for Bethany Lutheran in the second game, including a double. 
• Alek Zentzis had five strikeouts for the Vikings in the first game, while Cody Leitner had three strikeouts in the second game.
