COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The Augsburg College baseball team suffered a sweep at the hands of host Saint John's University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Becker Park.

THE BASICS
SCORES: Saint John's 5, Augsburg 4; Saint John's 16, Augsburg 6 (7 innings)
LOCATION: Becker Park, Collegeville, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 15-19 overall (3-11 MIAC), Saint John's 21-8 overall (11-3 MIAC)

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Trailing 5-1 after four innings, Augsburg cut into the advantage with a two-run home run by Josh Marlowe (SR, North St. Paul, Minn.) in the fifth inning. Mike Brookshaw (SO, Prescott, Wis.) doubled and scored on an RBI single by Zach Bakko (JR, Northfield, Minn.) in the sixth, but the Auggies stranded the potential tying run on first base in the bottom of the seventh.
• Jordan DeCroock (JR, Farmington, Minn.) scored the first run of the game for the Auggies, leading off the third inning with a single and scoring on a single by Marlowe.
• Jamie Kaye (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) pitched a complete-game effort for the Auggies, striking out two while not walking a batter. Only three of the five runs against him were earned in the game.
• Tyler "Jonesy" Buescher (SR, Prior Lake, Minn.), Marlowe and Brookshaw had two hits each in the game.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• An eight-run seventh inning, with the Johnnies sending 12 batters to the plate, enabled the hosts to end the contest early via the MIAC's 10-run second-game rule.
• Trailing 4-0, Augsburg scored a run in the fourth inning, on a Marlowe RBI single plating Buescher, and took the lead with a four-run fifth inning. The Auggies loaded the bases on consecutive singles by Clayton Bodine (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS), Bakko and DeCroock. A sacrifice fly by Buescher drove in a run, a single by Marlowe scored another, and two more came across on a single by Jack Duffy (SR, Fridley, Minn./DeLaSalle HS)
• Saint John's scored twice in both the fifth and sixth innings to take the lead back, but the Auggies cut the lead to 8-6 with a run in the top of the seventh, as Marlowe hit a double and Eric Olheiser (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Tartan HS) drove him in with a double.
• Marlowe went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Auggies in the second game, while Duffy, Bodine and Bakko had two hits each.
