MINNEAPOLIS -- Pounding out 29 hits, including 10 doubles and a home run, the Augsburg College baseball team scored a sweep of Carleton College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Parade Stadium.

DOUBLEHEADER HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg's
Josh Marlowe (SR, North St. Paul, Minn.) had an incredible afternoon, going 8-for-9 at the plate with four doubles, a two-run home run, eight RBI, two stolen bases and five runs scored. He went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI in the seven-inning first game, then went 5-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, three runs scored and six RBI in the second game, ended in the eighth inning due to the MIAC's 10-run second-game rule.
• Augsburg's No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 hitters --
Rhett Hebig (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS), Marlowe and
Jack Duffy (SR, Fridley, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) -- combined to go 17-for-21 in the doubleheader with 14 runs scored, seven doubles, a home run and 14 RBI. The trio went 13-of-14 at the plate with nine runs scored and 10 RBI in the second game.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Pitcher
Jacob Kari (JR, North Branch, Minn.) pitched his first collegiate shutout in the first game, striking out six while walking one and allowing just four hits. Of his 98 pitches in the game, 63 were strikes.
• Duffy brought home Hebig on a sacrifice fly in the first inning, and a double by
Jordan DeCroock (JR, Farmington, Minn.) drove in
Zach Bakko (JR, Northfield, Minn.) in the second. Augsburg scored twice in the third inning, as a double by Marlowe and single by
Clayton Bodine (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) plated runs.
• Bakko hit an RBI double to drive home Duffy in the fifth inning, and RBI singles by Marlowe and Duffy brought home the final two runs of the game in the sixth.
• Seven of the nine batters in the game had hits for Augsburg, and five had RBIs.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg built an 8-2 lead after three innings, but Carleton scored six runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game. But the Auggies scored the final 10 runs to claim the early win, including four runs each in the fifth and seventh innings.
• In addition to Marlowe's 5-for-5 performance, Hebig went 5-for-6 at the plate with two doubles, five runs scored and two RBI.
• DeCroock went 1-for-3 at the plate, but also walked and was hit by a pitch, enabling him to score three runs and record four stolen bases. As a team, Augsburg had eight stolen bases in the second game.
• Tyler "Jonesy" Buescher (SR, Prior Lake, Minn.) went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, an RBI and four runs scored in the game, while
Mike Brookshaw (SO, Prescott, Wis.) went 3-for-4.
• As in the first game, seven of the nine Auggie batters had base hits, six recorded RBIs and seven scored runs. Augsburg had six doubles in the second game -- two each by Hebig and Marlowe, and one each by Duffy and Bakko.
• Three Auggie pitchers saw action in the game, with
Joey Tschida (FY, Lakeville, Minn./St. Thomas Academy HS) gaining the pitching win with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four while not walking a batter and allowing just two hits.
FOR THE FOES
• Brendon Fischel had two of Carleton's four hits in the first game.
• Wilson Battle and Patrick Jorling had two hits each for the Knights in the second game, with Jorling scoring two runs and Battle scoring a run and driving in another. Griffin Bolte scored two runs for Carleton in the second game.

• Augsburg has its final home doubleheader of the season on Wednesday (5/3) at 2:30 p.m., hosting Gustavus at Parade Stadium.
