MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg College softball team ended the home portion of its 2017 schedule with a doubleheader loss to Hamline University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday at Edor Nelson Field.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Trailing 1-0 after one inning, the Auggies tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, when
Haley Larson (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Prior Lake HS) hit a solo home run, her first this season and second of her career.
• Hamline scored a run in the first inning and took the lead with a run in the top of the seventh.
• Larson and
Carly Dropik (SO, Alexandria, Minn.) had two hits apiece, with Dropik adding a double.Â
Taylor Mattice (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Centennial HS) had the other Auggie hit in the game.
•
Samantha Anderson (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn.) struck out five while walking four and allowing eight hits in a complete-game effort, her 20th complete game of the year.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Hamline sent 10 batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring six runs on five hits and an error. The Pipers added two more runs in the third, enabling them to end the game after five innings due to the NCAA eight-run rule.
• Augsburg was limited to four hits in the game, including a double by
Amanda Niznik (SR, Columbia Heights, Minn.).
Brianna Cline (SR, St. Clair, Minn.),
Anesia King (FY, Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) and Dropik had the other Auggie hits.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The doubleheader was the final home event for six Augsburg seniors -- Cline, Larson, Niznik,
Lauren Hurley (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS),
Courtney Larsen (SR, Little Canada, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) and
Carissa Struve (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS).
FOR THE FOES
• Chelsea Koehn and Kira Krueger had two hits each for Hamline in the first game, with Krueger and Abbie Annen driving in runs. Koehn, Krueger, Aubree Douglas and Sydney Fransiscus hit doubles in the first game.
• Sarah DeMars struck out 10 while walking three to pick up the first-game pitching win, with Casey Anderson striking out one in the second-game win.
• Anderson went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and two runs scored for the Pipers in the second game. Annen also had two hits for Hamline.

• Augsburg closes its 2017 season on Sunday (4/30) at 11 a.m., with a MIAC doubleheader at St. Olaf.
