PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team opened its season with a 4-0
finish at the Oregon Trail Classic on Friday and Saturday. Augsburg posted a 3-2 victory over Whitworth, a 3-0 victory over George Fox University, a 3-0 victory over Willamette (Ore.) and 3-1 win over Lewis and Clark (Ore.).

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GEORGE FOX
• The Augsburg offense hit a season-best .359, in combination with a season-best 11 blocks, make quick work of George Fox in the final match of the tournament.
• The Augsburg offense was led by
Jordan Weeding (SR, Greenfield, Minn./Rockford HS) and
Ellie Schwartz (SO, Woodbury/Hill Murray HS), who posted seven kills apiece. Weeding added eight digs and three block assists, while Schwartz added four digs and two block assists.
•
Bridget Bednar (SR, Pierz, Minn.) was key in the Auggie defense, posting a career-high eight block assists, while adding five kills, hitting at a .444 clip.
• Continuing her strong play was
Morgan Malley (JR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS), who posted a match-best 26 assists, while adding six kills and six digs.
• Defensively,
Macey Terhell (JR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) anchored the Auggie back row, finishing with 13 digs, marking her 22nd consecutive match with double-digit digs.
FOR THE FOES (GEORGE FOX)
• The Bruins were led by Danyle Dupray, who finished with a team-best seven kills, while adding four digs and two service aces.
• Laney Search and Hanna Kumasaka split setting duties for George Fox, combining for 23 assists and 11 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST WILLAMETTE
• Augsburg won a five set thriller over previously unbeaten Whitworth. The Auggies were led by an incredible career-high 58-assist, 14-dig, 12-kill, triple-double effort by
Morgan Malley (JR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS). This was the second career assist-kill-dig triple double of Malley's career, after recording the same stat against Loras College on opening weekend a year ago.
• The Augsburg offense was again anchored by a strong performance from its middles.
Taylor Linn (SR, Shoreview, Minn/Mounds View HS) and
Corrina Evans (FY, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) posted 18 kills apiece, while both hitting better than .400 in the match. Linn posted her second double-double of the young season adding 14 digs, while Evans posted a career and team-high five blocks.
• The Augsburg defense combined for 91 team digs, compared to just 67 for Whitworth.
Macey Terhell (JR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) led all players with a match-high 28 digs, while Tayah Barnes (FY, Preston, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) added 14 digs and four assists.
• As a team, Augsburg hit .297 in the match, while the Pirates hit .235.
FOR THE FOES (WILLAMETTE)
• The Bearcats were led by the duo of Cassandra Mendoza and Madison Douglas, who posted 22 and 17 kills respectively.
• Gracie Meiners posted a match-best 59 assists, while adding seven digs, five kills and three blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST WILLAMETTE
• Augsburg cruised to a season-opening win in straight sets, hitting at a .272 clip, while holding the Bearcats to just a .125 hitting percentage. The Auggies claimed a 49-23 advantage in kills, a 49-21 advantage in assists, a 58-43 advantage in digs and an impressive 8-1 advantage in service aces.
• The Auggie offense was led by a strong presence in the middle, with both
Taylor Linn (SR, Shoreview, Minn/Mounds View HS) and
Corrina Evans (FY, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) posting double-digit kills. Linn added 10 digs for a kill-dig double-double, while Evans led the team with three block assists in her Auggie debut.

Ellie Schwartz (SO, Woodbury/Hill Murray HS) led the Augsburg outside hitters, finishing with nine kills and two block assists in her Auggie volleyball debut.

• The Bearcats were led by Kendall Fox, who posted a team-best seven kills, while adding 10 digs and an ace.
• Jaiden Mason, recorded a team-best 12 digs, while adding nine assists and two kills for Willamette.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LEWIS AND CLARK
• After dropping the first set, Augsburg came back to take the next three sets and claim its second win on the day. Augsburg hit .262 for the match, while holding the Pioneers to just a .099 attack percentage.
• The Auggie offense finished with three players recording double-digit kills, led by
Corrina Evans (FY, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS), who finished with 13 kills and an impressive .550 hitting percentage.
Jordan Weeding (SR, Greenfield, Minn./Rockford HS), posted a season-best 11 kills, while adding eight digs and five service aces.
Ellie Schwartz (SO, Woodbury/Hill Murray HS) posted 10 kills, while adding two digs and a block assist.

• Lewis and Clark finished with two players with double-digit kills, led by Kourtney Meyer, who posted a match-high 15 kills, while adding 14 digs and three service aces.
• Mikayla Lopez recorded a team-best 32 assists to go along with 15 digs and four kills for the Pioneers.
