MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's soccer team nearly pulled off an incredible comeback from a 4-0 first-half deficit, but fell short in a 5-3 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in a nonconference contest on Sunday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg surrendered four goals in the opening 27 minutes of the game, but scored three goals in an 11-minute span in the second half to trim the lead to 4-3. A UW-Platteville penalty kick goal in the 87th minute closed out the scoring.

Lionel Vang (SO, Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) struck first for the Auggies, scoring on a penalty kick from 30 yards out in the 55th minute.

Emmanuel Egbujor (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored in the 64th minute, heading home a feed from the end line by
B.K. Kormah (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS), following a downfield pass from
Jason Scheeler (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS).
• The lead was trimmed to 4-3 just 90 seconds after Egbujor's goal on a Pioneer "own goal," as a shot by
Aidan Sim-Campos (JR, St. Joseph, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo HS) was initially saved by the UW-Platteville goalkeeper, but then deflected off the chest of a teammate and went into the net.

Garrett Kaelin (SO, River Falls, Wis./Hill-Murray HS) had four saves in goal in the second half for the Auggies, relieving starter
Thomas Molski (SR, Woodbury, Minn./North St. Paul HS), who had two saves in the first half.
FOR THE FOES
• Logan Rinderknecht and Ivan Khamenka combined for three of the Pioneers' first-half goals. Rinderknecht scored two goals off Khamenka assists, and Khamenka scored on an assist from Rinderknecht.
• Jake Stevens scored an unassisted goal in the first half, and Jon Stopple scored on a penalty kick goal in the 87th minute.
• Nate Miller had four saves in goal for UW-Platteville.
