ST. PETER, Minn. -- Leading for all but 3:32 in the contest, the Augsburg University men's basketball team dominated in a 90-59 victory over host Gustavus Adolphus College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg fell behind 5-0 in the opening two minutes, but then scored the next 16 straight points to take their first double-digit lead of the game, 16-5 with 13:55 left in the first half. Augsburg then used scoring runs of 9-0, 13-2 and 13-5 later in the game to pull away, eventually extending the lead to as much as 33 points in the final minute.
• The Auggies were paced by shooting guard
Kevin McKiernan (JR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS), who connected on 7-of-10 shooting from the field -- including 5-for-7 from three-point range -- to score a season-high 22 points, adding two steals and three assists. His five 3-pointers were his most in a game this season, and he now leads the team with 26 three-pointers, one of four Auggies to connect on 20 or more from long range.
• Augsburg connected on 59.3 percent (32-of-54) from the field -- its second-best shooting performance of the season -- including a season-best 14-of-24 (58.3 percent) from three-point range. The game was the eighth in which Augsburg has connected on 45 percent or better from the field, and it was the seventh for Augsburg with 10 or more three-pointers. Augsburg now leads
the MIAC's overall statistics with 144 three-pointers.

Booker Coplin (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, adding four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Collin Olmscheid (SR, Buffalo, Minn.) scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting, adding four rebounds and two assists.
• In all, 14 different Auggies saw game action and 10 scored.
Henry Mulligan (SO, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) scored nine points and
Matt Carik (FY, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) scored seven points.
Harry Sonie (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) scored seven points with five assists and four rebounds, and
Chany Pal (SR, Fridley, Minn./Fridley HS) had a team-best eight rebounds.
• For the game, Augsburg outrebounded Gustavus by a 30-28 margin. Gustavus was limited to 44.1 percent (26-of-59) shooting from the field, including just 3-of-15 (20.0 percent) from three-point range.
FOR THE FOES
• Riley Sharbono led the Gusties with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.
• Brandon Snoberger came off the bench to score 10 points with six rebounds.
