MINNEAPOLIS -- Goalie
Rebecca Sonnek (SR, Edina, Minn./Edina HS) had nine saves in overtime, including a rare save on an extra-session penalty shot, preserving Augsburg University's 1-1 tie with Gustavus Adolphus College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey contest on Friday evening.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 1, Gustavus 1 (OT)
LOCATION: Ed Saugestad Rink, Minneapolis

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Following a scramble in front of the Augsburg net with 1:06 left in overtime, the Auggies were whistled for a delay of game penalty in the goalie crease, resulting in a Gustavus penalty shot. Sonnek was able to poke away a shot attempt by Gustavus' Erica Power, one of nine saves Sonnek had in overtime.
• Gustavus had all nine shots in the extra session, en route to a 37-25 shots-on-goal advantage. The Gusties had five shots on-goal as part of a power play that extended into the extra session. But Sonnek stopped 36 of the 37 shots she faced to preserve the draw, Augsburg's second in a row.
• Augsburg took the early lead at the 11:26 mark of the second period, when
Jeanette Bealke (SO, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) tipped in a shot by Taral Clayton (SR, Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond HS) from the point on the power play.
•
McKenna Ellena (FY, Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine HS) had seven shots on-goal in the game, while
Bridget Wagner (SO, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS) had three shots.
